MEME; headcanon meme - guy cecil version.

1: What does their bedroom look like?
You can visit his room in the game hooray so I'll be basing it off of that. Guy shares a room with Pere back in Baticul! It's divided into two halves: Pere's and Guy's. His side's decently neat. It was probably instilled into Guy that a servant has to have the best appearances in all aspects of his life, so he has a good habit of keeping himself organized.

Pere's side is noticeably full of flowers and such whereas Guy's side is stuffed with fon machines! There's a worktable where there's various machines in different states spread out as well as a small music box (courtesy of Master Luke) sitting by his bed. There's also a couple of swords hanging off of the walls. Other than that, he really doesn't have much personal effects on him. The room's plain and simple enough, with a table for eating and a wardrobe for clothes.

Now, if we're talking about his room after he's regained his noble status... it honestly wouldn't be much different. He's become accustomed to a plain style of living so there won't be any fancy embellishments lying around. Swords, fon machines--that's pretty much the gist of what you'll find in his room. He's a man of simple tastes.

2: Do they have any daily rituals?
If he was still living at the Fabre's the daily ritual would go something like this: get up. Breakfast. Do the assigned tasks. Lunch. Hang around and be pestered by Luke and sometimes Natalia. Dinner. Bed. It's a very simple one.

On the road he would've been the one to get everyone up, probably, since he's used to that role. Guy the alarm clock. That's him. He's always been a light sleeper and an early riser, so a walk around the parts before the morning kicks off is something he probably likes doing.

Malkuth's was mostly him running at the beck and call of Peony (and his rappigs) while trying to find the Emperor to get him to stop slacking on paperwork. Horrible.

3: Do they exercise, and if so, what do they do? How often?
Yup, a whole lot. There's sword practice, which he does at the dojo or with Luke. He takes to water like a fish so when he can he likes going to the beach to practice swimming. He also seems to have a liking for climbing trees, so we can check that off as an exercise activity too. There isn't a day that goes by where he isn't doing something. But yeah, sword practice is the most common exercise he sticks to.

4: What would they do if they needed to make dinner but the kitchen was busy?
He'd be likely to offer his help before running off to the grocer's to buy the ingredients. If they don't need his help he can eat a sandwich in the meantime and work on his machines while waiting.

5: Cleanliness habits (personal, workspace, etc.)
He has good personal hygiene (bathes, brushes his teeth, etc. etc.) and he's okay at keeping his workspace clean. Unless he's working on something. Then you'll see machine parts scattered all over the desk. It's an organized mess. When it comes to keeping the rest of the mansion clean, he's right on it. You can't slack off or you'll be scolded by your masters!!

6: Eating habits and sample daily menu
Guy does his best to eat a balanced meal three times a day... unless he's working on a fon machine. Which, in that case, he'll probably forget to eat until way later and after a day goes by or something he'll finally realize that's right. I have to eat to survive. He doesn't really snack on things too often.

As for a daily menu! Breakfast is usually something simple, like eggs and ham. Lunch at the Fabres usually meant the leftovers of whatever meal they were serving mixed in with something simple, so it was kind of a rich diet and soup. On the road, it was whatever the party (hopefully Anise) would cook up. So this ranged from curry to spaghetti to stew. Dinner is the same! In Malkuth/Grand Chokmah it's a little more varied, so he's able to eat fancier food. Namely seafood. Man does he love seafood.

7: Favorite way to waste time and feelings surrounding wasting time
It boils down to two things: sword practice (surprise) and fon machines (double surprise.) His interests are obvious to the point of obnoxiousness. Reading up on anything fontech related is something he loves to do, too. Guy doesn't mind wasting time--some moments of peace are good, especially when their group's been all over in a hectic frenzy. Wasting time like Luke did in chasing after Asch and Spinoza though... yeah, no.

8: Favorite indulgence and feelings surrounding indulging
I WISH I HAD A DIFFERENT ANSWER BUT IT'S FON MACHINES. Spoiling Luke aside, that's his number one indulgence of all time.

He doesn't like seeing others being recklessly indulgent (i.e. nobles) or to let it get to the point of preventing someone from doing what they're supposed to do. Fontech freakouts aside, he's careful to remain practical about his hobby.

9: Makeup?
Nah.

10: Neuroses? Do they recognize them as such?
Obvious gynophobia aside, I'm not sure if he has anything terrible and frequent enough to be called a neuroses. But he does have some issues thanks to having his family literally piled up on him. He mentions to Luke during the Jewel of Gardios sidequest that he had essentially "lost all feelings" after his family's death and he says as much to Jade in Tales of Fandom. If it hadn't been for how well the Fabres had treated him, he wouldn't have been able to pull himself out of that emotional void, I'm sure! He recognizes that it was a rough period in his life and is glad that he's managed to push past it.

That being said, his biggest issues lie with suppression and fixation. Jade calls the former a remarkable act of self-control, which is. Actually very quite true. Guy's great at shoving down everything into a tiny space and holding it down, and he's great at masking how he feels. (See: staring at the face of his father's killer on a daily basis and not stabbing him for well over a decade.) And, having served as a servant, this skill was only encouraged. When you mix it all together, you get someone who's very friendly but rarely open. He's not the sort to approach someone to talk to them about himself. And he really isn't the sort to let anyone in easily. Guy would benefit from sharing more but nah repressing is the way to go about it obviously.

Fixation is pretty self-explanatory. From a very young age, Guy dedicated himself to one cause, and one cause only: to kill Duke Fabre and his family. Of course, he was dissuaded from his path, but he switched his cause to Luke through the bet he made. The point is that, once deciding something, it's insanely difficult to steer him away from that decision. He doesn't like to waver from anything! And he really doesn't like being without something--or someone--to devote himself to. Out of all the characters, Guy's probably the one who's in the greatest danger of tunnel vision.

And, of course, he doesn't seem to recognize or acknowledge these two traits. Not unless someone points them out to him.

11: Intellectual pursuits?
Puts my head in my hands it's fucking fon machines and fontech. Please take this kid away from the machines.

Okay but for real I think Guy has had the usual noble upbringing up to age 5, and after that Pere helped to teach him. The majority of his knowledge is kind of spread out and balanced, and I feel like he would've been a good student. He's not too interested in politics--in fact, he outright says that he wouldn't want to manage land--so any studies on that probably didn't get very far. But he knows math and science, since those two are his favorite subjects. And, well, he can excel in anything that he's interested in. If he can focus on them. Like. His fon machines.

12: Favorite book genre?
Instruction manuals. Magazines and journals. That sort of stuff. He reads, but his interests are rather specific.

13: Sexual Orientation? And, regardless of own orientation, thoughts on sexual orientation in general?
Sexuality is actually interesting if you consider Guy's phobia because there have been some times in canon where he does show attraction to girls! The biggest example I can think of right now off the top of my head was a desert skit where Jade caught Guy drooling over the idea of showers. And his remarks about liking to look at beautiful women. And his constant insistence that he loves women whenever the party teases him about his whole phobia thing.

Honestly, I'd peg him as bisexual with leanings towards men for any sexual relationships. That's my interpretation on it and that's how I'll be playing him if the subject of shipping comes up. He compliments women a lot in game and does show some attraction, but his phobia makes it very difficult to establish a sexual relationship of any sort. The biggest support I have for his attraction towards men would unfortunately be rooted in the subtext of Luke and Guy's relationship. I take it as romantic in some nature, especially when the tie-in merchandise is taken into account.

Guy and romantic relationships is another interesting subject to me considering how unwilling he is to be open with others. While he genuinely compliments a lot of people, it really isn't a good indicator by itself of whether he'd be willing to date/fuck with that person in question. But that's probably another tidbit to expand on in one of the later sections.

Sexual orientation in Abyss doesn't seem to matter much, seeing how Guy was teasing Jade about being in love with Dist. So I'll say that he doesn't really care much about anyone's orientation.

14: Physical abnormalities? (Both visible and not, including injuries/disabilities, long-term illnesses, food-intolerances, etc.)
He's got a pretty cool scar on his right arm thanks to Sync's curse slot.

15: Biggest and smallest short term goal?
If we're talking about post-game Guy then I'd say that his biggest short term goal would be the daily tasks of court. Managing paperwork, wrangling the rappigs (and His Majesty), dealing with the usual politics that nobles have to face...

The smallest would be taking care of the rappigs.

16: Biggest and smallest long term goal?
The biggest long term goal would be to work with everyone to prepare for the energy crisis that Auldrant will face!

The smallest (and most personal) goal is to find Luke.

17: Preferred mode of dress and rituals surrounding dress
His sense of style seems pretty easy to discern. Gloves and vests/short jackets seem to be his favorite sorts of clothing. For reasons I can't really discern he also likes wearing collars and chokers? Okay Guy. Overall, his style of dress is very utilitarian! As long as it functions, he'll wear it. He doesn't spend too much time in the morning getting ready.

18: Favorite beverage?
I'm going to go with coffee.

19: What do they think about before falling asleep at night?
It varies from day to day. Usually he thinks about what needs to be done tomorrow, what errands he'll have to run. Sometimes he thinks about his family, but he does it less often now that he's out in Grand Chokmah. The sound of the ocean is louder there than in Baticul, so it calms him down easier. He thinks about where Luke might be, too, on particularly lonely nights.

20: Childhood illnesses? Any interesting stories behind them?
Guy was actually a rather healthy kid, family massacre aside \o/

21: Turn-ons? Turn-offs?
I am actually!! Not too sure what Guy finds physically attractive. He throws out so many compliments to all sorts of girls that it's like ??? But emotionally, he's very much the sort to enjoy taking care of others. He likes being the one trusted and relied upon! Not so much vice versa. So I'd say that's one of his turn-ons: someone who needs him. I'd like to say that he has a servant and hand kink too.

His turn-offs are hard to pinpoint too. As long as you don't break his trust, and if he knows you well and likes you, he's likely to stick with you.

22: Given a blank piece of paper, a pencil, and nothing to do, what would happen?
He'd write down some thoughts and calculations. Probably figure out what he'd want to build next when he gets back.

23: How organized are they? How does this organization/disorganization manifest in their everyday life?
Like I mentioned before! Guy is good at keeping himself organized thanks to his upbringing. You'll be hard-pressed to find something out of place when he's around.

24: Is there one subject of study that they excel at? Or do they even care about intellectual pursuits at all?
im. fontech. just. please see question 11.

25: How do they see themselves 5 years from today?
He doesn't have any plans to leave Peony's service anytime soon. He's staying in Grand Chokmah, that's a given. But he hopes that, five years down the road, Luke will be back and they'll have made some progress in replica rights as well as an alternative source of energy.

26: Do they have any plans for the future? Any contingency plans if things don’t workout?
As I mentioned, he's pretty much set in working for Peony! If anything goes wrong, he's willing to head back to serve Natalia. With his friends in all the high places, he doesn't think the chance of war is strong. Spending his days in peace is enough. He has the ambitions of a rock.

27: What is their biggest regret?
It's a tie between failing to dissuade Van's derangement and failing to stop Luke. He doesn't like carrying that latter thought and always pushes it away by reminding himself of the promises made.

28: Who do they see as their best friend? Their worst enemy?
Best friend is easy. Luke is his best friend and still is, despite his nonexistent status.

His worst enemy was formerly Duke Fabre, but he's found it within himself to forgive him. It doesn't mean he's stopped disliking him but. That's a complicated tangle of feelings that we won't touch on for now.

29: Reaction to sudden extrapersonal disaster (eg The house is on fire! What do they do?)
Remain calm! Guide the others out, make sure everyone's okay, organize efforts to try fighting the fire. He's very much the sort to act than to react, and he's good at keeping a level head through it all as well as calming those around him down. All in all, he's very dependable when something goes wrong since he's not the sort to panic.

30: Reaction to sudden intrapersonal disaster (eg close family member suddenly dies)
Guy's method of coping with any tough problems is tied with suppression. He's not the sort to make a huge scene out of his grief, especially not in front of others. Blowing up at others is something he might do if pushed about it, but those blow-up will be brief and quickly followed by apologies. Tying it up, filing it away is what he does. He'll handle what needs to be done, the arrangements, etc.

31: Most prized possession?
His father's sword.

32: Thoughts on material possessions in general?
He doesn't place much importance on them, seeing how he turns down the suggestion of owning land or of gaining wealth of any sort.

33: Concept of home and family?
It's a tricky topic. Guy still feels like he's lost his real family and home a long time ago--you can't lighten the weight of that incident, even if you learn new ways to carry it. Living with the Fabres hasn't been the easiest for him either. While he viewed them as the enemies at first, being treated as family by both his new masters and the servants gave him the childhood that was stolen by the man he served.

Would he call the Fabres his second family? Maybe. He understands now that what Duke Fabre did was his own responsibility, that the blame shouldn't be placed on anyone else sharing the Fabre name. He didn't have a bad life under their roof. But he wouldn't go so far as to call the mansion "home." He still thinks of himself as a Malkuth citizen, despite having lived in Kimlascan territory for a good chunk of his life.

Home is where he was born. He'll always think of himself as having lost his family and nobody can really replace that hole in his life, but it's not necessarily a bad thing. He has good friends that he can rely on.

34: Thoughts on privacy? (Are they a private person, or are they prone to ‘TMI’?)
Here's the thing! Guy is more than happy to learn about you, and if you want to talk to him until your face is blue, that's okay. Just don't expect him to do the same. He's an intensely private person who doesn't seem to rely on anyone with his thoughts. It's not that he dislikes it--it's more of a learned trait that he's gained over the years, to depend on himself. Opening up to someone is a difficult task for him.

35: What activities do they enjoy, but consider to be a waste of time?
Fon

tech

Ha ha jinx i'm just fucking with you that doesn't count because it's useful and fun. He doesn't have much activities he'd consider a waste of time. Rappig walking would be the closest thing.

36: What makes them feel guilty?
If he pulls a dick move he'll apologize for it almost right away if he likes you. I think he has suffered from survivor's guilt more than a couple of times, but he's managed to keep it under control. His will to survive is pretty huge, after all, since he's realized that the sacrifices his sister and servants had made were to let him live. His gynophobia is also causes its own fair share of guilt! He wants to be able to interact with everyone equally but. Childhood traumas. Those are hard to push aside.

37: Are they more analytical or more emotional in their decision-making?
Guy is a very strange mix of both. He's at heart an analytical person who's able to see both sides of an situation and weigh its pros and cons. His heart, though, always has the final say in what he chooses. He's been relying on his emotions for his entire life to propel him forward, so he trusts his gut instincts.

38: What recharges them when they’re feeling drained?
Being near the ocean, tinkering with his fon machines. If all else fails, sleep it off.

39: Would you say that they have a superiority-complex? Inferiority-complex? Neither?
Neither of them actually! Despite what he's been through--and despite his difficulty opening up--he has a healthy image of himself.

40: How misanthropic are they?
This is actually a very tricky question. Guy isn't very misanthropic. I'd say that, out of the party, he has one of the stronger moral compasses. He understands that certain things are bad, he reins people in from time to time if they get too far. But by the same token he isn't afraid to kill out of self-defense or vengeance. It's like I mentioned above: Guy is the sort to get tunnel vision very easily. If he doesn't have someone to help round him out, he's very likely to just. Not care much about what happens to people he doesn't care about. That doesn't mean that he won't lend a helping hand--he does, often! It's just that while his morality is set to "good," it can waver sometimes.

41: Hobbies?
I've listed them near the end of this I think!! Tinkering with fontech, sparring, swimming... those are his main hobbies. His work is his hobby in a way ha ha ha.

42: How far did they get in formal education? What are their views on formal education vs self-education?
Guy had a noble's education until the age of 5. After that, he was informally taught by Pere and would teach himself some subjects by getting his hands on whatever books he could. He sees both the benefits to formal and self-education.

43: Religion?
Man. Guy has a very complicated relationship with religion and it's something that he's probably struggled with for a bit before deciding that he's not religious. I have the headcanon that since his 5th birthday he's passed on having his birthday score read. It was very difficult for him to reconcile the fact that his family died for the sake of the Score! In the end, it kind of pushed him away from the Order of Lorelei. He doesn't hate it--he understands that it gives people hope and comfort--but he's pretty glad that it'll have to reevaluate itself when all's said and done.

44: Superstitions or views on the occult?
If it pops up, he'll deal with it. If it doesn't, then it's probably just a story. It doesn't creep him out much, and he doesn't put much stock into it.

45: Do they express their thoughts through words or deeds?
Deeds, definitely. Guy means what he says, but finding what he thinks through his words alone? It paints a very murky picture if you go that route.

46: If they were to fall in love, who (or what) is their ideal?
There's a handful of things that you have to mix together that Guy finds appealing. Trust is an obvious given. So is respect--someone who's hardworking and willing to stand up for what they believe in is important to him! He doesn't focus too much on looks in a person, though he is partial towards short hair. Someone who has a good sense of humor is also a plus.

47: How do they express love?
Guy is a very, very good boyfriend if you get him. He's the sort to plan anniversaries and buy you flowers on the first date, to cook you dinner and do all sorts of small tasks to make you feel comfortable and at home. "House husband" basically pegs his form of affection. Pampering is what he'll do to a ridiculous amount. He doesn't put much emphasis on the physical/sexual aspects of a relationship compared to the emotional aspect, though they're still nice.

48: If this person were to get into a fist fight, what is their fighting style like?
Guy's very fast on his feet and acrobatic! His style of fighting would be all about misdirection and speed. Use anything to his advantage. Knock the other guy out at all costs. A lot of jumping around. That sort of thing.

49: Is this person afraid of dying? Why or why not?
I would have to say yes. Guy isn't afraid of placing himself at the risk of dying per say. He's perfectly fine with putting his life on the line to fight for what he believes in. If you ask him, he won't outright say that he's scared, but he will emphasize that he has more things to live for than to die for. After the tragedy that befell his family he's convinced that he has to find a way to live in order to honor their memory. And he doesn't want to leave any unfinished business laying around either when the time comes.

Sacrificing himself isn't what he wants to do! He thinks that line of thinking is stupid, because the most important thing for any person is to fight to stay alive, no matter what.
